Date: Monday, 12th August
Time: 7:00 PM
Background: It was a sticky, humid Monday in Soho—prime “hot and bothered” conditions, according to AC. She’d warned Tobob in advance, but as always, she was far from bothered, being as lovely as ever. The real intrigue of the evening, however, lay in the promise of a mystery gift. The excitement was building!
Venetian Cuisine: For dinner, Tobob chose Polpo, a low-key spot to match the casual vibe. At AC’s expert suggestion, they ditched beer for a refreshing rosé (perfect for the miserable heat). Tobob, a beer lover at heart, was thoroughly impressed and secretly proud of his expanding wine palate. Over shared starters and matching plates of ragu, the conversation flowed as easily as the wine.
Surprise: Then came the gift reveal — a hand-customised high-vis vest emblazoned with Tobob’s name and his personal motto in German, “Kann er es reparieren? Ja, das kann er!” (a nod to Tobob’s DIY prowess). Tobob was impressed, absolutely floored by the thoughtful, in-jokey present, which perfectly captured their banter.
Nightcap: Post-dinner, they moved on to Swift, one of the few cocktail bars in Soho open on a Monday. To shake things up, they ordered each other’s drinks, testing how well they knew each other already. The drinks were a hit, but it was the hours-long chat about life, work, and past dating experiences that really made the evening fly by.
Goodbye: Tobob then walked AC to Oxford Circus for her tube, but not before being mesmerised by her unexpected expertise on stink pipes (which, naturally, sparked a future date idea to go and see them!). As they parted, they shared a passionate kiss—until AC made her signature escape down the stairs, likely to avoid any awkward PDA. Totally understandable, Tobob figured, and besides, it just added to the charm of the evening.
Future Plans: Happy as ever, Tobob strolled towards Bond Street, eagerly awaiting AC’s date review. He was already buzzing for the next adventure: a fourth date, this time with a relaxing brunch and walk planned in AC’s part of London. Things were looking bright—high-vis bright, in fact.
